Jon started his career assisting other cameramen over 1998. Now he works as one himself, its a passion which has lead him to work with broadcasters and production companies worldwide.
Early on in Jon’s career he specialized in ‘moving camera’ technology, including jimmy jib camera cranes and Steadicams now owning and operate a 24’ Jimmy Jib remote camera crane which can provide spectacular camera moves with minimal setup. In 2003, he also trained with Steadicam inventor Garett Brown and other leading operators in the USA.
For the 2 decades Jon has been on staff for two national Canadian broadcasters in their news divisions. (CBC, Global TV)
During that time the job has taken him to a variety of worldwide locations covering daily news and working with exceptionally talented producers and journalists. For the most part, that included traveling with Sony ENG cameras and editing kit. Now it is almost expected that crews will travel with two or more cameras including a DSLR and possibly a go pro, edit daily or feature length stories and FTP back the finished project.
Jon has been nominated and won several Broadcast and Industry awards.
